    Hi,

sorry for my english. it's almost learned like my drumming by do it youself.
I am playing a single bass pedal.
    I'am practicing since weeks something.
one beat with the hi-hat and two with the bassdrum, one with the hihat and so on.
    like virgil is doing.
but is doesn't work. the sound of the hi-hat is not strong enough.
it's not the reason, that i'am too slow.
but after some seconds, the beat is gone away, if I play faster.
if I play only the bass, it's not a problem. the problem is NOT the speed of my foot.
and I'am having no problems, to play independant.

so my question ist, if I'am trying to do something, which is useless or should I practice more ?
there are another three beats combination between hi-hat and bass, which works.
    one hihat, two bass.
but the difference is, that the time between the three beats are the same.
what I'am trying wihthout success since weeks is, that this three beats are pressed together.
after the third beat is a longer break in comparison to the two beats before. just a littler longer.
like the phantastic short sequenz by peter, called 5K.
oh, oh, ich hope somebody understands my question.

To buy a double pedal is not really a good idea, because I played since 25 years single.
most of the times I am not very excited from double bass playing,
and I'am satisfied with the Hi-hat Bass combination.
but since virgil did this things?

so, my question is, am I trying something, wich doesn't work, or should I change something?

I'm not sure that I understand you.

However, if I read correctly, you are
    experimenting with a certain combination
and are not pleased with the results.

The HH and bass drum produce different
sounds. You're not going to get the
same sounds from them, in terms of vol-
ume. If the combo does not sound good,
    don't use it.

Perhaps, the angle of the HH cymbals is
not quite right for the highest volume.
You can check that if you like.

What Virgil does is what he does. We do
not HAVE TO do it too, though it might
    be good practice.
